    The weekend, uploaded

    En🇺🇸Pt🇧🇷↓

We went looking for how a zouk weekend turns into audio: when it goes up, who puts it there, and whether anyone listens.

Here is Embrazouk 2026 the way its DJs uploaded it.

February 17, eleven weeks before the festival: Vitório posts “Desafio Embrazouk”, an entry for the festival's DJ challenge. 1,010 plays so far. February 21: DJ Xitão, same challenge, 1,212. March 9: Jansen, a live set from an Embrazouk Night, 986.

Then the festival itself. May 2, a Saturday, with three nights still to go, Kakah uploads her Micareta Night. 8,178 plays, the third most-played set of the year among the DJs we track. The same day, DJ PL's Micareta set (1,679) and Diego Henrique's Arraiá set (519). May 3: Raffro, “Baile Micareta do Embrazouk”, 2,006. May 6, the day after the festival ended: DJ PL again, this time the Embrazouk Night, 2,957. May 14: Alex Tav's Arraiá set, 2,121. May 19: DJ LowRider closes the run with “Brasilidades”, a low-energy set at 71 to 73 bpm, 1,887.

Nine DJs. Ten sets. 22,555 plays by November 1. One festival, three months of uploads, and every one of them with the festival's name in the title.

That is one festival. We did the same for every set our DJs uploaded this year: 846 of them between January 1 and November 1, 521 on SoundCloud and 325 on Mixcloud, twenty minutes or longer. We matched each one to an event three ways: the DJ's booking in our calendar, the event's name in the title, and a list of 80 event names we read off the titles by hand.

376 of the 846 carry an event's name. 44.4 percent.

The number moves with the calendar. In April it was 51.6 percent, in May 56.7. In August and September, the quiet months for Brazilian festivals, 33.8 and 35.8. The rest of what goes up is studio mixes, training sets, podcast series and old recordings. Half of what a zouk DJ puts online is a named night.

    📊 Chart

When does the night go up?

For 204 of those sets we could pin the event's dates. 36 were online before the event happened: challenge entries, pre-party recordings, sets made for a competition. Of the 168 uploaded after, half were up within ten days. 33 inside three days. 66 inside a week. 97 inside two weeks. And 44 took more than a month, which is how a February festival keeps producing new audio in April.

Monday is upload day. 51 of the 204 event sets went up on a Monday, and so did 192 of all 846. Friday is the quietest, with 18. Dancers fly home on Monday. So do the sets.

    📊 Chart

Which events get recorded? Embrazouk leads: nine DJs posted a set. Then four at seven: ZoukMX in February, the Katowice Zouk Meetup in March, and two that are not festivals at all: Mahazouk, a party in São Paulo, and League of Shadows, the series Auler and DJ Matter have run for four years. Seven DJs each treated them as an event worth naming. Six DJs posted from New York (Solas, the NY Zouk Festival, the Thursday socials), six from Warsaw, six from Zouktime Croatia, six from Castle of Miracles in the Netherlands.

    📊 Chart

Now the part that should change how DJs title their uploads.

On SoundCloud, a 2026 set with an event's name in the title has a median of 550 plays. A set without one, 66. Eight times.

Inside a single DJ's catalog the gap mostly holds. Caio Noronha's event sets sit at 2,594 plays against 902 for the rest. DJ Matter, 983 against 369. Fellipe Brandao, 179 against 72. It holds for eight of the fourteen DJs who posted at least three of each. The exceptions have their own logic: Godoy's unnamed sets outrun the named ones, 955 against 480, and Leila Leão's training sets outrun everything she records at a party.

And the event sets keep earning. Between September 1 and November 1, the 194 event-named sets uploaded from January to August gained 51,413 plays, 265 each. The 237 unnamed sets from the same months gained 29,497, 124 each. Sets uploaded in March gained 495 plays apiece in September and October alone, seven months after the weekend: Camilo Molina's Green Party set added 2,975, Leila Leão's Boliche Women's Day set added 2,393.

    📊 Chart

This is the opposite of what our weekly chart shows. There, a festival set is a one-week spike, because the formula decays with age and a set only gets one weekend of attention. In the catalog it is a souvenir with a long tail. Both are true. The chart measures the week. The catalog measures the year.

The honest math, because there is some.

The most-played set of 2026 is Kakah's RnB & Lyrical Tuesday from ZoukMX, 8,365 plays. The third is her Embrazouk Micareta Night, 8,178. The one in between, at 8,185, is Leila Leão's 70 bpm training set, which names no event at all and is the fastest-growing upload in the whole catalog over the past two months. Event sets get heard. So does a set people practice to. That one is its own article.

And a title is not a cause. A festival set gets plays because the festival shares it, because the people who were there want to hear Saturday again, because the DJ was booked there in the first place. Putting a festival's name on a studio mix will not do that. Recording the night will.

Which events produce sets at all? The lineup decides. Among the festivals, congresses, marathons and weekenders held between April and October with ten or more artists on our calendar, 34 of 72 have at least one set online, 47 percent. With four to nine artists, 15 of 49, 31 percent. With three or fewer, 9 of 77, 12 percent.

And who posts? Among the DJs who upload at all, we count 325 bookings at 2026 events that have already happened. 113 of those bookings left a set we can find. 35 percent. Some DJs nearly always do: DJ Kron, 6 of 7 bookings. DJ Heartanna, 4 of 5. Sabrina Beija-Flor, 6 of 8. DJ Eflosa, 6 of 8. Kakah, 13 of 25, which at her booking volume is a release schedule. The rest of the lineup went home with the set on a laptop.

That 35 is a floor. A set titled without the event, or an event missing from our calendar, both read as “not posted”.

Now the same story on the other platform.

The Warsaw Zouk Festival & Marathon ran February 12 to 16. DJ Power had Friday's main-room set on SoundCloud on the Monday, with the afterparty still going. DJ WinX put the Saturday set up on the Wednesday, on SoundCloud and Mixcloud both. Thursday: Klaudia Ćwiąkała, DJ Klaudinha, with the Sunday White Party set, 3,072 plays, the most-heard recording of the weekend. Then DJ MuSZu's Saturday opener on Mixcloud, DJ Power's Sunday classic lambada set, Klaudinha's Saturday Valentine's party, a Thursday opener, and on February 28 Adayl Iost's Friday main room, on Mixcloud.

Nine uploads in thirteen days. Then DJ Eflosa turned the festival into a season: six parts, one every Monday from March 23 to April 27, each a different room on a different night, from the Thursday build-up to the Monday afterparty. The last part went up ten weeks after the weekend.

Fifteen sets from six DJs. 8,314 plays. Ten of the fifteen on Mixcloud.

That last number is the pattern. Brazilian events live on SoundCloud: Embrazouk's ten sets, Zouk On's ten, Mahazouk's nine, LPZ's six, all of them there and none on Mixcloud. The marathons of Europe, North America and Australia live on Mixcloud: Warsaw 10 of 15, New York 10 of 15, Zouk Heat 9 of 15, Sanctuary in Sydney 9 of 9, Zouktime Croatia 6 of 8, Bonn 4 of 5. Same weekend, two archives, and which one you search depends on the continent the party was on.

    📊 Chart

One more thing the titles told us. 85 times, a set's title put a DJ at an event our calendar did not have them at. Alex Tav at Embrazouk. Cathie Saunders at Dublin Zouk Fest and at Katowice. A set upload is a lineup announcement, made after the fact, by the person who was there.

Where the method is soft: we matched titles against a hand-made list of event names, so an event we did not think to list reads as unnamed. January to March festivals are undercounted, because our calendar rolls past editions forward. Mixcloud shows marked exclusive are not counted. Play counts are as of November 1.

So, DJs: the night you played is the recording people want. Name the event in the title, so the people who were there can find it. Put it up on Monday. And if it was a four-night festival, nobody said it had to be one file.

And organizers: when you book a lineup, you are also deciding whether the weekend gets an album. Nine DJs gave Embrazouk 2026 one. The sets are the part of your festival that is still running in November.

Which of this year's weekends can you still listen to?

    Pt🇧🇷

    📊 Chart

O chart mede a semana.

O terceiro é a Micareta Night dela no Embrazouk, 8.178.

Gravar a noite, sim.

Quais eventos geram sets? O lineup decide.

Alex Tav no Embrazouk.
